Mr. Owen (Derek Kage) welcomes a young woman, Hailey (Beca Barbie), into his home, because he's about to leave on a business trip and Hailey will be housesitting for him.
Hailey is excited to be staying in this beautiful home for a while, especially since she landed the gig just in the nick of time - she got evicted from her apartment. But even though Hailey is supposed to be alone in the house, over the next few days we see signs that someone else is there, spying on Hailey and constantly evading her. When Hailey finally realizes she's being watched, she's shocked to discover that the spy is Mr. Owen!
He admits that his business trip was a lie, and this isn't the first time he's spied on a housesitter - although this is his first time getting caught. Hailey is disgusted, but Mr. Owen says he can tell how much she loves the house and is having difficulty making it on her own, so he has an offer for her: she could stay as a permanent roommate, as long as she agrees to be a roommate with benefits. Despite Hailey's horror at the situation, her sense of self-preservation wins out.
